Located at the Wisconsin-Minnesota border, St. Croix County is considered an integral part of the 13-county Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington MN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Interstate 94 provides residents and businesses with a direct link to the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. Although St. Croix’s population approaches 80,000 residents, the MSA’s population is 3.2 million, making it the 15th largest metro area in the U.S.
UW-River Falls is a 4-year college that attracts a diverse student base. Two technical college districts are located in St. Croix - - Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) and Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) and serve residents and businesses.
